Auberle Residents Complete 30th Season of Flag Football “Hut 1…. Hut 2…. Settttttttt, Hike!” Boys at Auberle calling out plays, suiting up in their red or blue flag football belts, and running around aspiring to be the next Jerome Bettis or Hines Ward has become a fall tradition at Auberle. This season, which began in September and concluded right before Thanksgiving, marked the 30th consecutive season of flag football at Auberle. With the leadership and dedication of twelve incredible staff members, forty-eight young men from Programs A, B, C, and GOAL were able to participate in the league. Auberle uses this league as a tool for therapeutic recreation, which is described by Ralph Wagley, the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator, as an opportunity for everyone, both staff and kids, to learn to work through problems and to learn from their mistakes. The focus of the league is on teaching the kids fundamentals, structure, sportsmanship, and fun. Participants were acknowledged at the end of the season with a banquet and award ceremony to recognize their achievements this season.
